23rd International Sculpture Symposium on Friuli Venezia Giulia Stone
2020, Udine – Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy
In an increasingly technicized and digitalized world, stripped of its spirituality for having forgotten—or rather, for having tried to kill—Nature in order to extract short-term profit, a growing group of artists seeks to reinterpret their social role, returning to harmony with the natural elements that still surround us.
Beatrice, too, within this symposium, following in the path of this tradition, dedicates herself to sculpting an oak leaf, similar to those that offered her shade during these two sunny weeks.
She sculpts leaves in stone or marble, and she does so with great skill. She carefully observes leaves, trunks, and the density of the forest, transferring part of the magic inherent in what she has seen and explored with the eye of an artist. She is walking along the path of this new group of artists that made its first important public appearance in England in 2013: The Arborealists.
Her leaf here in the park is the happy result of the effort made in organizing this 23rd Sculpture Symposium in Vergnacco.
