27th Art on the Sea Festival – International Sculpture Symposium "Living Sculpture"

2023, MAM – Museum of Art on the Sea, San Benedetto del Tronto – Marche, Italy

Wind, rain, and waves shape stones, marking the passage of infinite time. An eternity that is not granted to humankind, which, within its finite time, is allowed to know only a fragment of the story that stones lay bare, revealing it to the universe.

Human ambition lies in the eternity of one’s work, which becomes such when it turns into art, thus granting eternity to the flow of finite time.
Yet there is an even greater ambition: to reveal, by bringing to light, what the stone hides and safeguards.

This happens by giving softness to form, unveiling from hard and cold marble hidden plasticities, capable of offering shapes that unexpectedly reveal elegance and transparency.
This is what I feel, and what guides my work each time I attempt to release from matter a leaf that the wind may have gently laid upon the cliff, or to free it from the rock itself with the force that atmospheric events can unleash.

The leaf thus assumes the strength of life, showing us that the Divine exists in everything that surrounds us, even in the smallest of things.
